Calculate your solar savings
Two inputs are enough to get a useful starting point.
How is your solar savings estimate calculated?
The calculator keeps the inputs simple while making the method behind the result clear.
- 01
Input
Start with the customer type and typical monthly electricity-bill range.
- 02
Estimate
Translate that bill band into an indicative electricity-use range.
- 03
Size
Suggest a preliminary solar-capacity range from the estimated demand.
- 04
Generate
Estimate annual solar generation using the current configuration.
- 05
Value
Show the electricity cost that solar may offset under that profile.
The result is an indicative starting point. Actual bill units, tariff, usable roof, shading and system design must be verified before final sizing.

What actually determines your solar savings?
- 01
Electricity consumption
Actual units consumed are more reliable than the bill amount alone and are checked before final sizing.
- 02
Applicable electricity tariff
The value of avoided grid electricity depends on the customer category and billing structure.
- 03
Daytime use and exported energy
Directly used solar and exported solar can have different financial value.
- 04
Solar generation potential
Location, shading, orientation, layout and system losses affect annual generation.
- 05
Usable roof and system design
Roof availability, structural condition and practical layout must be verified on site.
What should a solar savings estimate really tell you?
Savings means electricity expense that solar may avoid over time. It is not the total value of generation and should not be treated as a guaranteed return.
Why the same solar capacity can create different savings
A 5 kW system does not automatically produce the same financial outcome for every customer. Tariffs, daytime consumption, shading and grid-export treatment can all change how much generated solar electricity replaces purchased electricity.
Savings and payback are related — but they are not the same
Annual savings describe electricity cost that may be avoided in a year. Payback also needs the actual system price, eligible subsidy where applicable, financing cost, operating assumptions and expected change in output over time.
| Indicative calculator view | Project-specific assessment |
|---|---|
| Uses customer type and a bill range | Reviews bills and actual units consumed |
| Suggests a preliminary capacity range | Confirms usable roof and engineering constraints |
| Shows indicative savings and generation | Applies the relevant tariff, design and operating assumptions |
Solar savings calculator FAQs
It is designed to give an indicative first estimate from limited inputs. Accuracy improves when the actual electricity bill, units consumed, applicable tariff, roof conditions and site-specific generation potential are verified.
It is an estimate of the roof space that the indicated solar capacity may require. It is not a measurement of your available roof. Usable roof area, setbacks, shading and structural suitability must be checked separately.
No. Electricity savings and subsidy are different questions. The Savings Calculator estimates the electricity cost solar may offset. Subsidy eligibility and amount are handled through the Solar Subsidy Calculator.
No. It is a preliminary capacity range based on the information available to the calculator. Final capacity should be confirmed after reviewing actual consumption, roof feasibility and the required system configuration.
Solar savings come from reducing electricity that would otherwise be purchased from the grid. The value of that avoided electricity depends on the applicable customer category and billing structure, so equal solar generation can have different financial value for different consumers.
Yes. The interface can remain common while the backend applies different approved configuration for each customer type and geography. This allows Scaler Solar to expand the calculator without maintaining separate front-end tools.
No. The calculator result is shown first. Contact details are requested only if you choose to ask Scaler Solar for a free expert consultation.
