Eligible residential households in Tamil Nadu can currently receive total financial assistance of up to ₹1,00,000 for rooftop solar. This includes up to ₹78,000 under PM Surya Ghar and an additional Tamil Nadu state subsidy of up to ₹22,000. The exact amount depends on system capacity, eligibility and current scheme conditions.
There is no single correct price for a 3 kW rooftop solar system. The final cost depends on the solar panels and inverter selected, mounting structure, roof conditions, electrical work, cable length, safety equipment and installation scope. Eligible residential customers may also reduce their effective cost through applicable solar subsidies. A proper quotation should therefore compare the complete system and service scope, not just the price per kW.
With a grid-connected rooftop solar system, the electricity generated is first used to meet your property's electricity needs. When the system produces more than you are using, surplus energy can be exported to the grid through the approved metering arrangement. When solar generation is insufficient, electricity is drawn from the grid. The final billing treatment follows the applicable Tamil Nadu rooftop-solar and metering rules.
A properly sized rooftop solar system in cities like Coimbatore, Tiruvannamalai, Viluppuram, Erode, etc. can significantly reduce the electricity you need to purchase from the grid, and some homes may achieve savings of up to around 90%. The actual reduction depends on electricity consumption, solar generation, system capacity, daytime usage, applicable tariff and how exported solar energy is accounted for. Solar should be sized around realistic savings—not exaggerated projections.
The right solar capacity should be based mainly on your actual electricity consumption, roof space, shading, sanctioned load and daytime usage. Two homes with similar electricity bills may still need different systems. Scaler Solar therefore recommends sizing the system from your real consumption and site conditions rather than automatically installing the largest capacity your roof can accommodate.
